Jaali (Mesh Bag)·جالی

Roman Urdu: Jaali / Jali

A jaali is the open mesh (net) bag used to pack onion, garlic and potato in the mandi. The mesh lets air circulate so these crops don't rot or sweat, which is why they ship in jaali rather than a closed bardana or a peti. Lots are counted by number of jaali at a standard fill — a potato or onion jaali is commonly around 20–25 kg — and the daam is quoted per jaali or per maund of net weight.

Example usage

Example: Jaali (Mesh Bag) is recorded in the daily mandi khata so party balances and settlement details remain clear.

Frequently asked: Jaali (Mesh Bag)

Why are onion and potato packed in jaali, not bardana?+
Because onion, garlic and potato need airflow. A closed jute bardana traps moisture and heat, which causes sweating and rot; the open mesh of a jaali lets air pass so the crop stays firm longer in transport and storage.
How is a jaali lot weighed and priced?+
A jaali is filled to a standard weight (roughly 20–25 kg for potato or onion), so the lot is counted by jaali number. Daam is quoted per jaali or converted to per-maund of net weight. The light mesh weight is negligible compared with a jute bardana, so kaat for bag weight is minimal.
Does Pakka Khata track jaali count per lot?+
Yes. You record the jaali count and per-jaali (or per-maund) daam, and the app computes the lot value, deducts kachra for any rotten stock, and shows arhat and labour on the parchi — the same packaging-count workflow it uses for peti and bardana.
